A Felony For a Buck Knife at School - Dumb-Butts!

I sure hate it when I read article like this one, Sprayberry H.S. Teen Charged with Felony for Knife at School. I can’t believe how ignorant some folks are.

How would a school system do a random search on a personally owned vehicle? How in the hell would a school have search power and that not be a violation of the 4th Amendment of the Constitution of the United States?

This is the problem with schools, the administration is ignorant. You know how you handle problems with kids? You punish them and fine the shit out of their don’t-give-a-crap parents.

For a kid to be facing felony charges after a search of his vehicle by school officials is insane. If the search was voluntary, then why did he allow it to be done if he knew he would be in trouble for having a Buck knife?

He states he had nothing to hide. Well, obviously, he didn’t know that a Buck knife was illegal to have in his vehicle.

Let’s find a common sense solution here.

A school official wants to do a “voluntary” search of a student’s vehicle. I already have a problem with this. Being that the kid is a 17 year old minor and would obviously be intimidated by negative repercussions if he were to deny the search, he agrees.

To solve this problem, a parent should make the decision to consent to a “voluntary” search a minor’s vehicle. An ignorant school official should not be involved in this at all. If it were a school policeman, that officer needs a block of instruction on common sense and how to utilize his authority to better society and not shit on folks.

Ok, the idiot official finds the Buck knife. Oh no! This 17 year old football player is in possession of a Buck knife! Actually, it was in his vehicle, not really in his immediate possession. What do we do! Alert! Alert! Alert! Terrorist in training!

Common-friggin’-sense! Use it!

The idiot finds the knife. Great job. Now, look at the kid and say these words… “Did you realize that having this knife in your personal vehicle is a violation of the law?”

Kid: “No sir, I had nothing to hide. I didn’t know.”

Idiot Official: Looks the kid over using common sense, logic and any form of wisdom that can be mustered. “Well son, you look and seem like a decent kid. You’re on the football team, you are in the process of educating yourself by attending school. Hmm… Let me give you some advice, why don’t you go on back to class, I will take this knife and keep it safely. Have your parent come up here, have a chat with me and take this home where you should keep it. Don’t bring it to the parking lot in your personal vehicle anymore.”

Kid: “Oh, yessir, I’m sorry. I will.”

Idiot Official (Growing Wiser): “Ok, get back to class.”

See, what we have here is the usage of sense instead of turning this kid into a felon. This kid is absolutely innocent of a crime, which requires intent.

The idea behind all of the confusing knife laws is to create the scenario that you see above. The law traps people who don’t sit around studying amendments and vague-worded laws all day long. It is made complicated to get the citizens of this country to simply give up their rights.

Ignorant officials prosecute and criminalize good, honest and upstanding citizens for deceitful and downright crooked reasons.

I feel bad for this kid. His life could be ruined over something that he had no idea about.

There’s the old saying, ignorance of the law is no excuse. Well, that used to be true. Now days, the law is interpreted vastly different from city to city, county to county and state to state. Hell, you can honestly believe that you are doing the right thing and be prosecuted for it anyway because some dumb-ass official has a political agenda and you just fell into his or her clutches.

The scary part of all this, the kid in this story could be facing more time than many child rapists in this country. Many judges feel that child rape is a sickness, like alcoholism. The pour rapists can’t help it.

But this kid, well, Buck knives are dangerous and scary. Let’s ruin his life.

Dumb-butts!

P.S.

I used a bit of vulgarity in the above. I apologize for that. It happens to be my own ignorant way of expressing emotion.
