Explore the above websites and join if you feel the urge. But, the best bet to getting started in collectible pocket knives is to take your time and do your research. Arm yourself with a few books and newsletters for information purposes. Find your particular interest, whether it be a certain knife style, or maybe you are more interested in knife appreciation and value. There is a slew of information available.

I buy quite a bit of reading material from Amazon.com. My entire collectible pocket knives books come from Amazon, besides what I can find in used book stores. Amazon offers free shipping on orders over $25 and you can’t go wrong with that especially with postal prices these days.

Below are a few, very good books on collectible pocket knives that I personally recommend from Amazon. Give them a look.

I believe that it is very important to keep a log regarding my collectible pocket knives. Yeah, I know, I’m a nerd; but a pocket knife collecting nerd.

My log is a simple spiral notebook with a few designated columns. Each column will be titled with the below identifiers.

This log is very handy. I continue to update my collectible pocket knives log as often as I can. I stay on the lookout for better deals or new knives that would compliment my collection and I note them in my log. My log is also handy for tracking folks “in the know” when it comes to information or where to find the deals.

Everyone interested in collectible pocket knives should pay some attention to display. There is nothing more gratifying, at least to me, than seeing my pocket knife collection displayed on the wall, although the wife has “suggested” that my display stay in my home office.

When it comes to displays, you will find that they can be more expensive than any single piece in your collectible pocket knives assortment. With that in mind, you could consider building your own. There isn’t much to putting together a nice shadow box; which is my choice. Or, you can hit the department stores and find shadow boxes at fair prices.

Another very nice method to display your collectible pocket knives is with a glass top coffee table. The top should open to allow you to reach in and adjust your knives or show them off. I think this is a very neat idea, and I plan to do something like it whenever I have the opportunity.

I could go on and on about collectible pocket knives, but I am going to stop here for now.
