It’s Been A Tough Year for the Knife Haggler
Category:This has been a tough year. I am not posting this blurb to complain and whine, but I felt it would add a nice personal effect to post some of the more personal topics. Feel free to skip right by these posts if you wish as they may not have the slightest bit of interest to you.
I’ve been battling a back injury for some time. After a visit with the Neurologist, it seems I have a pair of ruptured/ herniated discs in the L4 and L5 area of my spine. I am currently in the midst of dealing with the Department of Labor and my employing agency in regards to this injury.
I believe that I would rather deal with the injury anytime over DOL and the workplace. It is a major headache. The government sure doesn’t make it easy for an injured worker to receive help. It was almost a month before I was even approved to see an actual physician outside of the ER for my injury. Crazy, huh?
Enough about that.
I’ve been up North in Lubbock, TX for a few days. My grandmother passed away. It’s always good to be with family and get to see everyone. However, the circumstances sure weren’t good.
We call my grandmother Nana. She was married to my granddad, Papa, for 64 years. He died back in 2002.
It was sad for me as I guess it would be for anyone. I know where Nana is right now. She’s in heaven holding hands with Papa once again. I sure do feel good knowing that.
I guess the sadness for me is the fact that they are both gone. You don’t find folks like those two anymore. They stood for something that is nonexistent these days. They had morals, ethics and were very proud to be God’s children.
Being strong Christians didn’t make them weak by any means as a lot of folks believe. Either one of those two would take on the world if need be without flinching. They were both tough as nails. About the only difference in them and many others is the fact that they would hit their knees and request forgiveness after portraying their tough as nails responses to those who crossed them.
I’m going to miss them. They were fine role-models for me. I hope that I can live up to their standards if even a fraction. We’re proud of our Doggett name although it may sound a bit odd to folks. My grandparents set the standard for that name and I will die proud to have been a Doggett because of them and other Doggetts just like them.
