Spyderco Adventura - Lightweight, Rugged, Razor Sharp

The Spyderco Adventura is absolutely a hard-core and rugged knife. Spyderco never fails to produce a practical and good looking knife every time. You cannot go wrong with this knife as it is compact, making it perfect for every day carry, tough; making it perfect for heavy use without the worry of the blade snapping or simply having to sharpen it after a few uses. The Spyderco Adventura will last you quite some time.

The idea of the Spyderco Adventura folding knife was from the Romanian Technical Manager Alexandru Diaconescu. This folder is techie, futuristic and tediously engineered to combine function with a cool factor. The plain edge VG-10 blade is hollow-ground with an unsharpened swedge-grind. Oblong slots cut through the blade and handle reduce the weight and permit a glimpse of the Spyderco Adventura’s internal components and locking mechanism. The fully stainless steel handle is a composition of swells and angles designed in a perfect ergonomic fashion. The Spyderco Adventura provides both a back-lock and Spyderco Round Hole; which are positioned to allow easy single hand deployment and jimping on the blade’s crown keeps your thumb in control at all times. For more lock safety, a David Boye Dent is carved from the locking lever and eliminates accidentally releasing the lock if holding the knife tightly. A four-way: left/right, tip-up/tip-down pocket clip attaches with three steel screws and has a rounded, tapered end that stops wear and tear on jean pockets.

The Spyderco Adventura is designed using VG-10 steel; which has its positive and negative aspects. First, with VG-10, you can get a very surgical-like sharpness without a lot of sweating on the blade. The edge will hold for quite some time without having to go back and sharpen it again. About the only advice I can give you on VG-10 is to hit it with a sharpening steel every now and then for edge maintenance.

The Spyderco Adventura will chip if not careful. The VG-10 steel can be a bit brittle with severe use. I would not shy away from this knife because of this fact, but the user should always watch putting too much tension in the form of twisting when using the Spyderco Adventura or any knife with VG-10 steel.

All in all, the Spyderco Adventura makes an excellent daily carry pocket knife. The thing is so light, you will forget it is there until you need to do some fine cutting, then you will know to go right into that pocket.Spyderco Knives - Including Spyderco Adventura
