The Spyderco Sharpmaker is the solution to your knife sharpening dilemmas. Well, at least the Sharpmaker was the solution to mine.
The Tri-Angle Spyderco Sharpmaker comes with two sets of high alumina ceramic stones; a pair of medium-grit (brown) stones for hard-hitting sharpening and a set of fine (white) stones for expert grade finishing. These stones are triangular for sharpening plain edges on the flat sides and serrated edges on the corners.
The Spyderco Sharpmaker has a furrow extending the length of each stone that allows you to sharpen pointed items like fishhooks, darts, awls and just about anything with a point. Included is a set of brass safety rods; which are ideal for protecting hands while sharpening up a sweat.
All components of the Spyderco Sharpmaker snap into the self-contained ABS plastic base and lid. Die-cut into the base of the Sharpmaker are keyed slots and holes fitted for the stones. They precisely set the stone’s sharpening angle at a 30° (15° each side) or 40° (20° each side) for knives and a 12.5° scissor positioning. Flip the base over, a channel allows you to lay a pair of stones side-by-side (with the flat-side up) for use as a benchstone. The lid snaps nicely halfway over the base of the Spyderco Sharpmaker creating a handhold for steadiness as you sharpen your knives.

What I like about the Spyderco Sharpmaker is that is actually comes with an instruction book and DVD. There are some great pointers on the DVD that will certainly bring you knife sharpening skills back up to top level.
All in all, the Spyderco Sharpmaker is a very easy-to-use sharpening system. I recommend it highly. I have used the Sharpmaker personally and assure you that this will put one heck-of-a blade on your knife if you follow the video instructions.
Using the Spyderco Sharpmaker is very easy for the novice sharpener and very precise for the advanced.
