The Ignorance of Stripping Americans of the Right to Carry Pocket Knives and Own Firearms

Carrying a pocket knife these days can become quite complicating if you are not careful. Unfortunately, there are many people who object belligerently to anyone who desires to own and carry a pocket knife. Theirs beliefs are that the public should be disarmed of all knives, firearms and anything that could possibly cause harm to another.

There are many obvious complications to disarming the public of their pocket knives amongst other “weapons”.

The problem with disarming the American citizen of knives and firearms is the fact that the law would have to become so much more complex than it is regarding weapons. What constitutes a knife?

Common sense tells us that every item cannot be classified into law. And, it would be silly to even try although there are many that would gladly do so.

Disarming the public would not remove the problem of violent assaults with weapons. It would only make those that obey laws defenseless to those that violate laws.

Do you think the police can respond quick enough to protect an individual against a violent attack with a firearm? It is silly to even believe that. There is not a valid solution to self-defense without having a method to do so. This is why the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United States exists.

Those that desire to disarm the law-abiding public believe that all men are innately evil. The only way to protect them from each other is for the government to monitor their personal freedoms and enforce an overwhelming number of rules, policies and laws to maintain order.

Those that desire to retain the 2nd Amendment rights of the American citizen believe that all men are innately good. People that commit crimes of violence and assault should be tried for their crimes and appropriately punished.

Do not violate every citizen’s rights simply because there are people who would commit crimes. It makes no sense. This has been attempted in other countries and always results in further repression by government agencies. Freedom should be protected at all costs.
